Football is one of the major sports supported by Ohio State University, or OSU. Nothing beats the excitement felt by the crowd while watching teams battle it out for football supremacy in the said academic institution. And every year, the attention of over a million locals and visitors is focused on the said sport and the teams involved in it.

When talking about OSU Football, it is inevitable to mention the university's very own team, the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes is a member of the Big Ten Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and is presently playing at the Football bowl subdivision. Since 1922, the Ohio State Buckeyes have played their home games in Ohio Stadium, which is owned by OSU. The team's nickname was taken from Ohio's state tree, the Buckeye.

OSU Football also has numbers of traditions. The first of which is the Senior Tackle, in which senior players are recognized at the last practice of the season and are asked to hit the blocking sledge one last time. Another one is the giving of a miniature charm which resembles a pair of gold football pants to coaches and players after a victory over foes the Michigan Wolverines.
